EQUALS...one sad mama!

Little girl gets her shots today.  I think I'm the one who will have the harder time.  Well now we'll be more free to venture out into life outside the home.  Can't wait to see the world again!

She's here! The first days!

We are so thankful to welcome little Addison Joy into our family.  She's a delight!  We are enjoying time with our family of three.  It's been a big adjustment (don't all first time parents feel this way?!) but worth every second!  We are praying that the JOY of the Lord will be her strength.  And honestly, I'm praying the same thing for myself...a much needed prayer for these first few sleepless, postpartum weeks:)

Nehemiah said, "Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength."
Nehemiah 8:10

A few maternity shots

My brother graciously took a few maternity photos for us.  We wanted to share a few before our little bundle arrives.  Enjoy!

Fatherhood and Einstein

I recently finished a great biography of Einstein by Walter Isaacson. In the midst of his greatest discovery in general relativity, his relationship with his son had fully dissolved. He remained committed to his work and had a disastrous family life. Here is a quote from the book in the form of a letter written to his son Hans Albert:

"I will try to be with you for a month every year so that you will have a father who is close to you and can love you. You can learn a lot of good things from me that no one else can offer you. The things I have gained from so much strenuous work should be a value not only to strangers but especially to my own boys. In the last few days I completed one of the finest papers of my life. When you are older, I will tell you about it."

This quote is haunting to me as an expectant father. I hope to tell my children about Christ and what he has accomplished far more than what I have professionally accomplished. I enjoyed this book and it truly is a commentary on how one can gain the world and forfeit their soul.

Last Hurrah

Earlier this month, we enjoyed a quick trip to Asheville for a birthday celebration/babymoon.  We tried to soak up the last bit of time together before Addison comes!  (We realize that these opportunities may be few and far between in the future.)

The accommodations at Ridgecrest are amazing!  Nice and cozy.

He's Gone Country!

Merry almost Christmas!  We are excited about celebrating the birth of our Savior in our new home.  We are adjusting to the new sights and sounds of living in a different location.  We were used to the endless car horns, sirens, cheers from the restaurant next door, etc.  Now we have quiet.  Well until our baby arrives:)  Or until Forest drives the Bobcat or Jonnie does metal fabrication...I guess quiet is a relative term.

One month and counting...

Give or take a week or two!  Forest and I CANNOT BELIEVE that our little Addison will be here so soon! We are ecstatic!  Her nursery is ready, bags are packed, and car seat installed.  We're so grateful to Aunt Holly, Nikki, Grandma Dutton, Nana Paula, Nancy, Laura, Beth, Judy, and Kim for hosting baby showers for us!  We wanted to share a few photos with you...
